Customer Review: A great reciever at the price paid.
I purchased this unit off of Amazon about year ago. The seller sold it as an open box buy. I paid 400.00 for it and when I received it, it turned out to be factory sealed from Yamaha (not refurbished). This was a pleasant surprise. I had an older high end Yamaha unit that would not fit in my glass entertainment cabinet. So this was a viable option. I have used Yamaha receivers for about 20 years and none of them have ever died. I also like Denon as well (have one of these). I love the no clutter look of the higher end Yamaha receivers such as the RX-V1600. Now you see other MFG following suit. The sound of this unit is excellent. It has enough surround modes to suit the user. I also have a 64-bit PC running into the receiver and the sound is great. I highly recommend this product for either the amateur or the experienced audio enthusiast. Don't go to the local BB and get a reciever for much more money but way less qaulity.
Customer Review: Nice receiver, a few complaints
I am happy with this receiver and my Home Theater sounds great coupled with my Axiom Epic Grandmaster Speaker setup. I paid $750 for this receiver through amazon in October 2006. Thought about going up to the $1500 price point but realized I didnt need the added functionality. A few complaints, 2 of them rather minor. 1. Volume readout text is too small. WOuld be nice to have larger text so I could actually see what level I use for different listening situations. As it is I cant actually read the number from where I sit. 2. The remote could really use some backlighting. This complaint shouldnt be lessoned by the fact that many remotes suffer this same design oversight. They are all poorer for not incorporating this idea. 3. When running my Xbox360 via component wires to this receiver and then via HDMI to my Samsung LNS4692D HDTV the picture is darkened. When I run the Xbox360 straight to my Samsung LNS4692D HDTV the picture is less dark (preferred). This makes a huge difference in games like Gears of War and Call of Duty 3 where the scenes are already dark. I decided to just leave the Xbox360 connected straight to the HDTV via component and run the digital audio to the receiver. This issue wouldnt allow me to run "just one cable" (the whole idea of HDMI) to my TV. Yamaha needs to look into this issue and figure out why going from component to HDMI darkens the picture.

Customer Review: Some problems out of the box but still pretty good
Pros: 1. Price/Value (got it for $525 brand new on Ebay) 2. # of inputs 3. pretty good audio Cons: 1. Layout of remote isn't too good 2. Power cord is ridiculously short 3. The VIZIO icon in the middle of the tv stays illuminated after turning the tv off! I find this to be very annoying! 4. The color black on this tv isn't dark enough. Misc. Issues - My tv had (2) dead pixels. Not noticeable while actually using the tv, but they are there. Was advised by tech support that they only replace/repair the LCD tvs if they have (5) or more dead/stuck pixels. - My major problem with the tv is (and I'm not sure whether it is just mine or with this model in general) is screen uniformity. The top right, bottom right and bottom left are all very visibly brighter from the light that powers the LCD screen. Keep in mind that I watch tv in an almost completely dark room so this kind of thing would be amplified especially when the screen is black or watching a widescreen movie. I'm in the middle of making a claim with Vizio for this problem and pending their approval I will have a technician come out to fix the problem.
Customer Review: Great TV, Great Price
We bought this TV because CNET rated Vizio as the top budget brand. We have not been disappointed!!! We have the 1080i model (has since been replaced by 1080p). The TV picture is very clear. The screen has no problems with glare, despite being next to a large window. The sound is excellent (and I'm hard of hearing!). The newer models of the tv come with 3 HDMI connections, which is awesome. There are also plenty of other connections available. We have the cable box, dvd, and computer hooked up to the TV, and could hook up at least 3 or 4 more things! Everything interfaces with the TV perfectly, the resolution is excellent. The TV is also very lightweight, which is great for dusting! The TV is very attractive looking and we get lots of compliments on how it looks, and how clear the picture is. I would recommend this to anyone!
